Custom Bike Show 2008!

Sun, folk festival, lovely atmosphere, record attendance and a motorcycle show in world class standard! That’s the sum of this years Custom Bike Show in Norrtälje, June 7!

By tradition, Custom Bike Show always take place in Norrtälje the first Saturday in June. This year was the 34: th time for the show to be held. It’s also the 4: th time that Custom Bike Show is the Scandinavian qualifying competition to World Championship in Custom Bike Building. The exhibition is since many years a matter for a large audience from the Nordic countries, Balticum and Europe. This year most far away guest came all the way from Canada.

This years World champion winner was Andy from Flying Choppers in Finland who will represent Scandinavia at the World Championship in Sturgis in the beginning of august this year.  Andy also took the 1: st place in HD-chopper, which is one of the most qualifying classes at the show.
-Fantastic, was the first comment from Andy, who is looking forward to participate in World Championship.

It was high class in this years participating bikes, there was 250 very well built motorcycles in the competition. The largest class was as usual HD-chopper where also the competition was the hardest. One of this years obvious trends was the retro style with inspirations from the chopper culture of the early 70:s, with high handlebars, long sissy bars and a touch of sharp shapes, also paintjobs in bright colors with deep and glossiness. That all the bikes was of high class showed in the qualifying to the world- and European Championship where the jury choose to send 3 bikes to European final instead of the 2 that was meant.

As usual the competition was held in 6 classes: HD-Chopper, Chopper, Custom, Classic Custom, Trike and Classics, besides that also a prize to Best Paint Job and People’s Choice. The common demand in all classes in Custom Bike Show is that the bike must be rode in normal traffic to the exhibition. Extreme show bikes who are built as art work and not able to drive can’t participate. Otherwise there are no rules and the winners are to be voted by the participators, and of course the visitors who have to vote for their favorite bike. This year the prize table was close to half a million SEK worth.

One of the real winners was Jocke Andersson from the organizer club, Twin Club Mc, who came on 3: rd place with his H-D trike. Jocke broke his back in a traffic accident two years ago and is partly paralyzed but have with stubbornness, creativity and buddies from the club built his own trike customized to his needs.

Custom Bike Show is the only real forum for Swedish and Scandinavian Bike builders and makes a large audience of interested people. This year’s audience was about 15 000 visitors and a record attendance of visitors with motorcycles, a guess is that more than 7 000 motorcycles visited Norrtälje during the day.

Apart from all motorcycles there was a lot of music, lot of exciting events and a market street who could offer all that you could wish as a motorcycle owner. Of course there were companies from the motorcycle industries showing their products and associations who presented their activities.

Twin Club MC Norrtelje wants to thank all our sponsors, Norrtälje municipality and other public authoritys for an as common good cooperation, all friends and familiar that lines up and works and especially everyone of you visitor that do Custom Bike Show to the happening of the year!
See you in the sunshine Saturday June 6, 2009!!
